I was accepted into the lung transplant program Oct 28th of this year after completing the evaluations. I have had two calls, but was too ill (high white blood cell count) to undergo the surgery. I am now doing much better and am patiently awaiting the call. If you have questions, I will be glad to answer them as best I can. My email address is ldycatcoach@yahoo.com. It may be a little easier to communicate that way. May God give you strength and stamina you as you begin this process.

Does your ins pay for this? Please let me know how you are doing for I have been thinking of talking to my doctor about transplant.

@walkfast-74 I am still waiting on the call. It has been an adjustment living this "wait" lifestyle, but we (myself and my "caregivers") have taken it in stride and are doing very well. Someone has to be within 30 minutes of me at all times so we can leave immediately. Physically, I am back to my new baseline of about 19% lung function, but doing very well- no cough or mucus. I am able to do my daily strengthening routine even though my huffing and puffing on the treadmill feels like I'm breathing through a coffee stirrer instead of a straw (lol). Yes, my insurance covers all procedures involved in the transplant (after the yearly deductable is net) including the pre-evaluation, actual transplant, medicines, years of follow-up care, and living expense while we have to stay near the transplant center. Happy New Year and may God bless and strengthen you in the coming year. Please feel free to ask me any questions. If I don't have the answer, I'm in a support group of post transplants that have experienced it all!
