What's the main piece of advice you would give to someone newly diagnosed?

Don't panic. Take your time to come to terms with what you have. Take someone with you to your appointments to ask the questions that need asking.

Don't panic, bowel cancer grows slowly. It was six weeks from my initial referral, to surgery. That was about as fast as I could handle and get organised.

Do as much as you can to improve your fitness before the op. Your recovery will be quicker and you'll be in better situation to cope with the chemo.
