I have a paralysed diaphragm which is increasingly causing me problems, in America the phrenic nerve has been removed in order to help.

Hi lowther1 ... diaphragm problems are a known CMT issue due to phrenic nerve involvement, I've never heard of this procedure though.

I may not be understanding it correctly but I can't see how removal of the nerve would help... it is because the nerve is not functioning correctly and the message not getting through properly that the diaphragm is suffering. Surely removal of the nerve all together will only exacerbate the problem??

Thanks for your reply Sam, your probably right, just wondered if anyone out there had heard of it.

Has anyone any tips on increasing energy vitamins etc, soo tired all the time.

Having been diagnosed with paralysis of the Phrenic Nerve I was referred to Professor Polkey at Royal Brompton Hospital. From my research he appears to be an acknowledged international authority on this area. See if your specialist or doctor can refer you to him.
