Hi i have type 1a was diagnosed in1999, just lately started getting swelling in my right foot with redness as well does anyone else have this problem?

Hi, yes I have type 1a and i have the same problem with the swelling foot with the redness. Sometimes my left foot swells, but mainly its the right foot and it's like it right now actually.

Hi, Thanks for reply it seems to only be on my left foot that swelling and red skin happens ,it has only just started to get worse ,have you had "it" checked out by a doc ?

Im thinking of going to docs tomorrow as im on 500mg of gabapentin (neurontin) 3 times a day to help with the pain at moment as i have the added complication of a suspected trapped nerve in my right thigh/spin possible number 3 nerve. im awaiting a MRI scan to confirm.

Hi, you're welcome. I have mentioned it to my doctor and I think he assumes it is cmt doing it. It never used to happen, but it first started about 8 years ago. I have trouble feeling my feet and so it doesnt hurt at all. Oh dear, that does make things worse if you have a trapped nerve.

Hi John,

Yes I get swelling and redness in both feet and lower legs, particularly the left which has had two operations to try to fuse the ankle. I find that wearing my lace up ankle brace helps to keep the swelling down. At least I cannot feel anything there! Are you seeing a chiropodist? I have just been sent by my neurologist in case I miss any foot problems as I cannot feel injuries.
