Venetaclax and retuxin

Hi I will be starting this treatment plan next week. I start the venetaclax, then next month I start the retuxin. I've had retuxin before and tolerate it fairly well. I haven't had Venetaclax before. Any advice? What are the common side effects? Are there any dietary restrictions?

Hi dianejoyce. I started venetoclax 4 months ago. The first 4 weeks of ramp-up involve some very close monitoring of you and your bloodwork. I was having severe problems with bloating after meals. It was quite miserable. I think it was the venetoclax, since the bloating problem started once I got fully ramped up. I am getting that under control by being more careful of what I eat, and how much, and using Beano (digestive enzyme). That was my only persistent problem since starting venetoclax. I hope to keep up with you and share my experience as well. I am shortly going to start taking Ventoclax (sp) myself beginning on the 16th... and discontinue the Imbruvica... I would have started it sooner .. I have the drug... but I was forewarned after being prescribed that some sort of pre-chemo education is required prior to beginning this drug. The dr himself did not seem to have an issue, nor do I... because I can read instructions. However when just on a lark.. I asked a few questions regarding potential side effects of this drug of the pharmacy they seemed shocked that I had not had said pre-chemo instructions. HAH...typical me... always a trouble maker..
