How does Type 2 diabetes affect CLL and vice versa?

Diabetes and CLL
Well I have type 2 Diabetes for the last 7 years I’m 47. This has been my concern as well. I’m on watch and monitor and I hope I stay this way for good. I can’t take prednisone because it make you sugar go high and nothing will take it down . With both your more prone to infections, so I’m very vigilant about staying away from people I know are sick or are recovering. I alway have hand sanitizer. Other then that I don’t know. One big negative is that I have SLL and need to be monitored with ct with contrast, so I need an IV before and after the cat scan with contrast. If not you can damage your kidneys. John
Hi Jhoover,
As Ironji says, both CLL and diabetes are heavily implicated in infection risk which is why it’s essential to keep our blood glucose within range. My monitor actually acts as something of a ‘barometer’ to impending infections and my levels will rise long before the infection appears. This isn’t cheery stuff but it’s important to know because CLL and diabetes are simply not good bedfellows!
