Can anyone tell me if the new drug bgb 3111 approved for the pbs? If not does anyone know how much it costs?

Still early days for this drug and not aware of any approvals.

Hi,

Thank you for replying. I am new at this so appreciate the responce. Yes it is A new drug and i was pretty sure not on pbs anytime soon but it has shown really good results in trials. Is it available privately and if so do you know how much it costs?

Honestly, it's so new I don't think there's any more information at the moment. It can take 5-10 years before these drugs become mainstream other than in clinical trials.

Are you newly diagnosed or needing treatment?

No 7 years lymphoplasmatic Lymphoma with Igg paraprotiens. Very rare to have Igg pariprotiens with lymphoma. No treatment but have now developed suspected cardiac amybloidosis.

It seems the going cost for new drugs is in the range of US120,000 or more per year...

Generally drugs are submitted to the FDA in the U.S. and the EMA in Europe, for marketing approval. This process takes about a year...

Once the drug is approved in these two major markets the drug company would file new drug applications, in smaller markets, like UK, Canada, Japan China, Australia, New Zealand etc.

These approvals require price negotiations as well, so the process can take two years, often more...
