Hi everyone! Is pins and needles something tha... - CLL Support
Hi everyone! Is pins and needles something that happens to CLL sufferers. My disease has advanced as you know, lots of swollen glands.
Is the pins and needles sensation in specific locations, like feet, legs, fingers, or all over?
I get pins and needles like sensations in my legs and feet which I think is a combination of neuropathy and the effect of some back issues.
Hi pkenn
I am getting it in my arms, hands, legs and feet. It's persistent and annoying rather than painful.
Might be nodes pressing on nerves or peripheral neuropathy, you should bring it to the attention of your CLL doctor...

Hi Maureen
Like pkenn I get pins and needles like sensations in my legs and feet ........ When I am feeling poorly I feel it albeit lightly, in my arms and face. It is being treated as Neuropathy, and I'm on Lyrica tablets 100mg x 3 daily.
The sensation is annoying but not painful.
The ' tingling ' sensation I now feel in mainly my legs and feet didn't start until about 2007, my diagnosis of CLL was in 2006 I am still on Watch & Wait.
Thank you all for your help and advice. I'll have a chat with my consultant,
p.s. I am starting my treatment on Tuesday...... Bendamustine + Rituximab on 28 day cycle.
Maureen
Pins and needles can sometimes be relieved by a baby aspirin. fish61
It looks as if several of us share this issue. I have had the pins and needles in my hands and feet since I was diagnosed in 2009. My dr. at MD Anderson doesn't seem to think it is a problem to be worried about. So, I don't worry about it, but it is nice to hear that I am not alone in experiencing these symptoms. I have been on Ibrutinib clinical trial for six months, but that doesn't seem to affect the pins and needles sensation one way or the other.
I have vitamin B12 deficiency, as do many (probably most) of us who are older, no matter how much B12-rich food we eat. The level of a 'factor' which allows us to absorb B12 from food drops as we age. Eventually we do not have enough.
If I give myself a 1ml injection of cyanocobalamin every 10-14 days, I can keep the pins-and-needles pretty much under control; if I don't, they become more than just annoying.
(Five years ago it was once every three weeks; ten years ago it was once a month. I'm nearly 78 years old.)
Have your B12 level checked every 3-6 months and get a prescription for injections if it's low.
