Hi there. We were booked into a 2 day assessment where we met the whole team at Kings. The anesthetist, surgeons, social workers, pharmacists etc etc. My daughter was only 18 months so she had to have all her jabs done i.e. two lots of MMR etc etc, especially if the vaccines were live. Of course there were the barrage of bloods as well. My husband was the living donor to Lilly so he had to have lots of tests - fitness, bloods. We were also counselled as a family, we had a little boy as well. Lilly also had scans. I seem to remember a scan where she had to take a liquid and be scanned every hour or so. If anyone else can remember more then please feel free to add! Good luck. Lilly is now 6 and is fantastic!

I just had some tests for assessment for a liver transplant however I am an adult even though I was born with my condition. I would be surprised if there were huge differences in tests. I've had many, many tests down the years including the test Kirstey spoke of above where they scan every hour or so. I've had that twice at Kings. Back in New Zealand at the Auckland Liver Transplant centre, I had a special ultrasound where they can measure how much scar tissue is in the liver. This is new and so much better than having a liver biopsy where they take a small piece of liver or having a PTC exam where they go into the liver bile ducts to see if there is any narrowing. Some of the tests are going to be specific to the type of liver disease your child has. I also had the latest MIR scan , as the machines now have much higher resolutions compared with a few years back. This time none of the tests were painful which is a huge improvement on some of the tests I have had in the past. I would expect they will do the least intrusive tests they can on a small child. Please let us know how you get on.

best wishes Vickie
