Should l have a blood test within 3mon... - Cholesterol Support
Should l have a blood test within 3months on statins.my doctor says I can't have until 12 months,l'm not happy having to wait this long .

Depends on your current level how crucial it is, but I think you could insist on every three months. If you tell your GP you want it checked more regularly he must comply, it's your health that is at stake not his. We might see more of this with the GP's in charge of the NHS budgets from tomorrow!
Presuming you've just started on them, yes you should. Your liver enzymes could rise (unlikely, but it happened to Mike above) or your CK levels may rise. Also you might want to know what effect they are having on your cholesterol levels without having to wait a year.
They really need to check your CK (Muscles) via a blood test as Statins are known to affect them more than anything else. !!
If you are new to statins they should check your CK levels and liver/kidney functions much earlier than that. If you think you are having side effects related to the statins see your GP immediately! (Read the information leaflets carefully)You may have to be forceful!
