See the doctor who prescribed it ASAP and maybe seek advice sooner (telephone or GP or whatever). I suspect really dry skin and flaky scalp are side-effects but I think doctors disagree at the moment. I think nausea and especially muscle cramps are known side-effects in a fraction of cases and are worth asking the doctors to consider prescribing something else. Probably rosuvastatin will be the next choice... you'd need too much simvastatin or pravastatin to be equivalent to 80mg atorvastatin. If I remember right, you can reduce the risk of rosuvastatin side effects by increasing the dose and not just starting with full dose right off. Good luck!

Thankyou to you and everyone who gave me their imput.I had a review booked for today and locum said to come off them for four weeks to check if its defo those tablets causing the problem and not the others im on and going for blood tests.. will let you all know how it goes. She did say there are alternatives to statins.By the way my b.p was so high she wouldnt tell me what it was but considering i got there at twelve for ten past app.and went in at twenty past one im not surprised.

I agree with DakCB-UK, but get your GP to arrange a blood test. I experienced similar symptoms on Atorvastastin and we eventually discovered it had affected my liver function hence the itching etc. My ferritin levels were also low so I was put on iron tablets.

My Consultant recommended Rusavastatin initially 5mg every other day, then boosted to everyday and in my case I now take 5mg one day and 10mg the next , so far without adverse side effects. Hope that helps.

See your Doctor ASAP to get your tablets changed as the way you are at the moment will do you more harm than good.

For the sickness i have started to drink ginger tea in fact its Lyons lemon and ginger tea. I used to be sick three - 6 times a day not sick but watery not trying to put you off food sorry.

Any sideaffects from any medication are worth investigating. If you don't get any joy from the GP who prescribed them get another opinion. All the best

All statins are the work of the devil... cancer mobilty issuses and not proven to increase mortality rates.
