Just day 7 at 20 mg atorvastatin and major gout attack right toe! Do not drink? Anyone have any views please.
New to statins, high blood pressure on 10 mg amlodopine, been a year and good. Cholesterol at 5 and go said take statins age etc nearly 60 overweight by couple KGS

Medications are band aid solutions. You need to address the causes of inflammatory conditions such as elevated cholesterol and gout. This means a healthy diet and lifestyle.
As an immediate measure, cut out all red meat, including pork. Cut out all sugars - including hidden sugars from packaged products - always read the labels. Also cut out all simple carbohydrates from your diet - white flour products such as white bread, white pasta, white pizza dough. Other simple carbs include white rice and white potatoes, fruit juices and soft-drinks.
Do not drink alcohol and take very high doses of vitamin C. Vitamin C is non-toxic and can be safely taken up to 15,000 mg per day. Vitamin C lowers uric acid in the blood stream.
Start with 1,000 mg tablets with each of your 3 main meals for a total of 3,000 mg per day and eventually double that.
Vitamin C will also lower LDL cholesterol.
Anti-inflammatory natural remedies include high quality curcumin and Ceylon or True Cinnamon. You can take up to 240 mg of curcumin daily (curcumin is a component of turmeric but you have to read the label for the curcumin content - it should be at least 60 mg per tablet). A therapeutic dose of Ceylon Cinnamon is one teaspoon per day - I take it in my breakfast tea (I drink a full mug of tea not just a cup).
Some people find dairy products cause an inflammatory response in their body. Dairy from goat and sheep milk are less inflammatory. Consider goat and sheep milk products like Greek feta, as well as organic goat or sheep milk.
You should move to the Mediterranean Diet, which is plant-based, whole foods, in nature. You can have red meat once every couple of weeks. Try and reduce animal protein consumption such as chicken and fish to no more than once per day.
Vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes should be your primary source of food.
Finally, you need to get up and move. Exercise helps to reduce inflammation which will lower your LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
