Divide your Neutrophil value by your Lymphocyte value to come up with a ratio. If the number (ratio) exceeds 1.5, then you may have internal inflammation that can lead to coronary artery disease, among other things.
In general, elevated white blood cell counts imply your body is fighting off infection. It could be minor, or it could be major. The fact that yours has been elevated over the past 6 years on a consistent basis does not necessarily mean that is acceptable.
I have been to see a heamatologist and he didn't seem concerned said smoking can raise it and the fact it has been Like this for 5/6 years it's normal for me so not sure
Elevated white blood cell count is usually an indication that your body is fighting an illness. An inflammatory state could very well be caused by smoking, but it could be the first sign of a serious illness.
It could also be a reaction to medications or an early indicator of cancer or other serious diseases. Smoking causes cancer and accelerates the process of heart disease.
Go to the doctor and ask for help to quit smoking. If you don't, it will eventually kill you.
Ok my doctor does not seem concerned about it said it's been like this for 6 years I do have high cholesterol but it's in its way down it was 8.8 now it's 6.1
