Am looking to understand BP over 24-hourr period. My wife started on a 24-hour BP monitor, the reading were yesterday at 3PM 160/134, this morning at 10 AM 122/72. The monitoring will finish at 4PM , will see a graph some time next week. Could I please ask people with 24-hour monitor experience to offer explanation, Thanks.

24-hour BP monitor readings?

This link to an article in the BMJ is quite technical, and reading through it suggests to me it is no simple process and requires an expert to gain from it. I shall be interested to watch this stream and learn.
My husband had 24 hour monitoring as his BP was exceptionally high (systolic of over 200). The GP explained his print out with him. His readings were consistently high at times when most people would have a low reading, for example when asleep. It is normal to have a higher BP at certain times during the day, going to work, going to GP's (!) but not throughout 24 hours.
He is on two lots of medication and happily accepts that he needed treatment as high BP also runs in his family.
Hi,
Thanks.
Managed to get a PDF copy of BMJ report, an excellent one.
We will wait for the report. We have been making a record of the reading from 9 AM. Can compare this with BMJ graph.
Thanks.
