Hi,

What is the make and model number of the home BP device? did you get an instruction manual?

Please read the instruction manual to check you BP!

You can Google to get better understanding, understanding the reading is a "specialist" job! This is main reason the doctors are unable to give an answer.

Blood pressure is typically recorded as two numbers, written as a ratio like this:

Read as "117 over 76 millimeters of mercury" Systolic

The top number, which is also the higher of the two numbers, measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats (when the heart muscle contracts).

Diastolic

The bottom number, which is also the lower of the two numbers, measures the pressure in the arteries between heartbeats (when the heart muscle is resting between beats and refilling with blood).

Below numbers are guideline only.

Blood Pressure

CategorySystolic mm Hg (upper #) Diastolic mm Hg (lower #)

Normal

less than 120andless than 80

Prehypertension120 – 139or80 – 89

High Blood Pressure

(Hypertension) Stage 1140 – 159or90 – 99

High Blood Pressure

(Hypertension) Stage 2160 or higheror100 or higher

Hypertensive Crisis

(Emergency care needed)Higher than 180orHigher than 110

Check you blood pressure first thing in the morning when you get up. You also should record all the reading you take

date, time and before or after food intake or drinks or any activity.

You are 23 and full of anxiety???? Why???? Stress is one of the major causes of BP fluctuations - Drs are well aware of the "white coat" syndrome when patients going to their Surgeries show elevated BP because of the stress of being at the Drs!!!!! Why so worried? Do you have health issues??? If so, see your GP for advice, if not, try to stop worrying!!! Your BP can fluctuate from minute to minute depending on whether or not you are standing, sitting, lying down, even breathing!! Your figures that you quote are well within normal parameters and will vary between these figures regularly!! Have you thought of trying some of the very good stress busting exercise regimes, such as yoga, pilates or Tai Chi? These help with your breathing and enable you to control your stress and thus lower your BP and regulate its pattern. Best Wishes

my dad had a heart attack in march blocked artery on right side and have not been the same since like any little thing can set off a panic attack.i am very dizzy in the morning. I lay there for about a half an hour before I can get up . I check my pulse when im laying in the bed just after waking up and its 58 to 64 bpm then when I get up and check it half an hour later its any were from 70 to 111 bpm and when I sit down and take my bp . I take it 3 times in a sitting, first one is usally anywhere from 111 to 130 over 68 to 80 second time is any where from 84 to 93 over 59 to 68 and the third time is 98 to 117 over 66 to 78 and I have no health problems that I no of I have been to three different hospitals and 9 different docters and they all tell me it is anxiety, and its messed up cause when I have a full blown anxiety attack my heat races like crazy I get very very shakey ,feels like the air has been sucked out of my lungs and my penis goes right small but very hard to touch cant bend it or nothing .I have constant symptoms all day like dizzy, short of breath often, and very tired all the time. its like my anxiety left for about a week and a half I felt great then came back 2 days ago .and thanks for your reply I will have to try some relaxation methods

Sounds like your getting yourself stressed out.You need to find a way to stop worrying about your health. The readings will fluctuate depending on external factors. So don't worry about one reading and correlate 3 readings together to give you an average.Going by the readings you have given and evaluating the stress you are experiencing i would say you seem to be in relatively good health as far as your cardiovascular system goes.So get on and enjoy your life.
