I am not medically qualified but this sounds like Carpel Tunnel which is often caused by Diabetes. I am a Type 2 Diabetic and I had an operation last week , having the stitches out today! In my case I had pins and needles in the middle two fingers (thumb not included) and numbness which became more irritating as time went by. I usually got relief by hanging my hand down by my side, but that failed eventually. Speak to your GP first. I had electrical impulse tests done and finally a referral to a private hospital (on the NHS) for an op. Have already been to a hand clinic and given exercises and a lot of really useful information.

Regards

David
