Lorstat 80 Perindo
Hadn't come across this before. Thanks for posting, bigleg, I shall be passing the info on to a friend.
Assume you don't take those thiazide diuretics as 2 people I know have gout as a result of long term use. Red wine, red meat ???
That's interesting, one more nail in fructose's coffin! I don't suffer luckily so wouldn't know but 2 friends with hypertension do suffer from 'chemical' gout [their words]. My late step father suffered frequent attacks and always put it down to red wine or red meat. He died almost 40 years ago and there was not the information available then.
My son has very bad attacks of gout but you needed to know the fruits which do irritate as the best thing you could eat to help is cherries. He is 44 and does not take statins but they are checking regularly to make sure he doesn't need them as if he did it could irritate his gout which is just part of the arthritis family and nothing to do with red wine or red meat.
My sons biggest flare ups come with stress and he has a very stressful job so hard to avoid but fruit helps him and me with arthritis.
thanks to all for your advice and information, i recently have moved to brazil from australia and fruit here is all tropical eg mangoes so i increased my fruit consumption i will try stopping all to see if that works. The doctor said red meat and beer is the culprit but i think fructose maybe more likely. I will let you all know how it goes in the next few weeks.
I have been on fruit diet, I mead, apple, pear, grapes, bananas and kiwi fruit, for about two years now but there is no sign of gout. Could it affect later on?
my understanding is that gout is associated with high levels of uric acid, you probably need to get a blood test to see if you have raised levels.
gout is associated with uric acid - normally covered in a health screening
Fructose has been shown to raise uric acid levels. livestrong.com/article/4850...
