Hi ling, You probably realise that we have a larger number of UK members than those of other nations, and our hospice provision here is very different to that which is provided in the United States. So some of the article to which you provide a link may not be altogether relevant to us here. But we do have some US members, so I'll leave your link as it may be of interest for US readers.

two nations divided by a common language. Its not the differences we know about that can cause such confusion but the ones we don't know about.

How very true FredaE! 👍😊

Yes, I have some awareness of what u mention. But thank you for pointing it out to me.

However, on this particular issue, I thought the theme was universal, especially for developed nations.

I am not from either the UK or US, but this is an issue we face where I live.

Hi ling, sorry for just assuming you were in US. You are very welcome here wherever you are from. Maybe you might like to share the hospice situation as it is where you are from, at some time.

Hospice care here seems to generally be offered much earlier on in diagnosis than is suggested in the article you linked us to. Much of it takes place as an out-patient with hospice respite care as needed (or available) and is co-ordinated with general medical care provided in both hospital and at home.

As FredaE so wisely pointed out, there’s often much confusion centred around lack of knowledge of our varying national habits! It’s good to talk! 👍😊
