View from the front garden

This is the old cemetery; the village looks after this as a nature site and at this time of year it is carpeted with primroses. This lies to the east of our house so the sun rises over the trees casting long shadows down the hill. This was an overflow cemetery in the 19th century when the churchyard in the neighbouring village filled and oneof the saddest inscriptions is of woman whose husband was buried two miles away in the mother village but when she died only two years later she ended up here.

I was here this morning photographing the dawn when a neighbour came along the road bringing her dog home from its dawn walk with an illuminated ball in its mouth so he could find it when she threw it in the dark. Made my day .....at a distance. Not the first time I have been caught prowling around in my dressing gown.They are getting used to it now

that's lovely FredaE. We have an old Victorian cemetery here too, and I actually love to go and sit in it. Its occupants don't worry me at all, and not only is it beautifully laid out, it has a huge variety of wildlife living in it, to the extent that in normal times, experts take guided groups through to show them. And full of history and stories too. So a history buff offers the same thing.

Your picture conjures up such peaceful thoughts, and I'll be so happy when I can once again take a walk to ours and sit again.
