My wife and I are looking after our 2 year old Grand daughter on a Special guardianship Order. How can we claim Careers allowance , she is severely disabled.

If you look to the right of the screen in blue in Pinned Posts, you will find more information.

You have to be under retirement age and the child must be in receipt of certain Disability Benefits.

The government website is gov.uk/carers-allowance/eli...

Hello Londaw4160,

Welcome and thank you for joining this very supportive community forum, where other members will be happy to give you advice and share their personal experiences, though everyone's experiences may differ a little. I am very sorry to hear about your little granddaughter and it is so important that you receive as much help and support as possible. As bluebell very kindly pointed out, if you look at the Pinned Posts on the (r) side of the screen, look under carers allowance and you will find some very useful information there. To claim carers allowance the person needs to be in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (dla) at a certain rate or Personal Independence Allowance ( PIP).

Also you may like to take a look at the following websites which may be of help to you:

gov.uk

gov.uk (this gives you the carers application form to download)

citizensadvice.org.uk

scope.org.uk

nhs.uk>Conditions>Pages>carin.... (this is an NHS website)

I hope this may help as you are doing such a great job and keep us posted as to how you are getting along. best wishes and good luck.
