I had lymphoma - cancer of white blood cells - and underwent chemo, radiation and bone marrow transplant. but now, my doctor has asked me to take turmeric and curcumin (a component of turmeric). turmeric has this part called curcumin which gives it the yellow colour. It is very effective in dealing with certain types of cancer.
please write to Dr Bharat Agarwal. He is a senior professor at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Texas, USA. His email is aggarwal@mdanderson.org
he is very supportive and answers emails quite easily. In case he suggests curcumin tablets or powder to your father, then he can start taking it.
curcumin is available in India in powder and tablet form. However, procuring it in powder form, I think, is a bit tough. But you can try.
I am taking curcumin tablets. An ayurvedic company Pharmanza Herbal Pvt Ltd in Kaniya, Gujarat makes 400 mg curcumin tablets. you can order them from either Gujarat or "India Fights Cancer" email cancermeds.enquiry@gmail.com also supplies them. The cost of 30 tablets is Rs 330. India Fights Cancer charges Rs 250 extra as courier charges. I am taking 16 tablets per day (which means 3.2 grams curcumin per day) - please consult with Dr Agarwal or your oncologist on how much dosage your father needs.
Also, I suggest you please replace his milk with unsweetened soy milk. Natural Sofit cartons are available in market. Give him the natural, unflavoured packs. Also, encourage him to stop taking sugar, red meat and caffeine such as tea or coffee.
Also, please give him
1. turmeric milk (i take turmeric in soy milk; not ordinary milk as some doctors suggest milk produces mucus which is a cencer feeder)
2. green tea
3. 20 leaves of tulsi properly washed to chew (he can take in morning; 20 in evening)
Thanks Sumegha. I will immidiately consult Dr Bharat Agarwal and post the feedback and the suggested treatment in this thread. Thank you again for this valuable information.
Please consider taking 8 gram curcumin per day; four times a day; for at least three months before you conclude its efficacy. Curcumin potentiate the effect of most chemotherapeutic agents. Any source of curcumin should be OK. Bioavailability is not a concern. Yougurt/milk can enhance the bioavailability if needed.
I suggest you gradually escalate the dose from 500 mg per day to 8 gram per day.
I would like to ask you, are you taking these curcumin tablets along with your chemotherapy , ot you have stopped the chemo/radiation totally? Also, are you taking any other medical treatment along with curcumin, like Homeopathy or any other ayurvedic treatment?
