It makes her quite uncomfortable and unsettles her. Is there any advice on preventing her tongue getting so dry?? I'm breast feeding exclusively and have so far have been hand expressing a small amount of milk into her tongue when I notice her discomfort. However this won't always be convenient so am keen to get some advice. She also collects hairs and bits of fluff on her tongue.

My daughter has macroglossia, though not a severe case, and her tongue sticks out all the time and gets very dry.

I used to use a lemon swab. It looks like a sponge on a stick that's already saturated with lemon or they come dry &you just dip them in water & swab her tongue or the inside of her mouth. You can get them at Walgreens or other pharmacies. They use them in the hospitals.
We haven't had this problem. My son was tongue tied until he was 12 weeks old (when they released it), so until then he couldn't get his tongue out of his mouth. By the time that they released it he had worked out how to fold it over and that's what he does now to get it into his mouth and close it.
