Has anyone here any experience or knowledge of Rhodiola_rosea in relation to tinnitus?
My experience is that a few years weeks ago a friend sent me a promotional video for Silencil. I noted that hawthorn berries are an ingredient. I consider hawthorn leaf and flower, which I had been taking for a heart condition, exacerbate the tinnitus and wondered if the berries would alleviate it. I decided to obtain some at the next opportunity.
A couple of days ago I saw a preparation containing hawthorn berries. It was designed as a heart tonic and was applicable to my heart condition so I bought it seeing if it would help my tinnitus. To my surprise I had immediate relief from a week-long bout of tinnitus. I then looked at the label and saw it also contained rhodiola_rosea and reading about this thought it to be more likely to help tinnitus. This I since found is also to be an ingredient of Silencil but at the time I took the first dose I'd completely forgotten about Silencil. Of course one dose won't cure tinnitus permanently but a second pill yesterday morning was followed by respite for the day. Today has been a bit disappointing but I still think this may have some use in dealing with tinnitus.
Has anyone any experience of this herb or know anything about it?
I am afraid the particularly preparation is unlikely to be available in the English-speaking world or EU, though I'd imagine that rhodiola is.
Thank you in advance for any answers.

Hello, Ivan the Terrible (a phrase I've always wanted to write 🧐)
We have an advisory guide for Silencil (and other, curiously similar dietary supplements such as Tinnitus 911 and Sonus Complete) on our website - tinnitus.org.uk/tinnitus-an...
As with many products of this type, Silencil isn't marketed as a medication, but rather as a supplement and so won't have gone through any particular testing before reaching the market. It is a case of buyer beware - negative effects on tinnitus are unlikely, but some ingredients may not agree with other health conditions experienced by users.
Charitably, I'd say that many people taking supplements of this type are noticing a placebo effect, from having sourced a 'natural' remedy and feeling a benefit as a result of that choice. It remains to be seen whether that initial impact continues.
Nothing wrong with a placebo effect if it brings relief. But my question is about a specific herb rather than Silencil itself, that it happens to be an ingredient of Silencil is almost incidental. I'm happy to give some of the ingredients a go, separately, and see if any appear to help. If any do work it will probably be much cheaper than buying Silencil.
Hi Ivan. You can buy ashwaganda & rhodiola here if you're in the UK highernature.com/healthy-mi... I tried it several years ago for another health problem but not in relation to T . I'm interested in herbal remedies for everything. Please keep us posted on your progress 🙂
hi - I have read wee bit of info online about RR - it maybe worth a try and see what effects it has on the T . I do search for natural products that can reduce the T volume - I wanted to try Kava but not available in Uk and Valerian can definately calm the T but I found it gave me low blood pressure. I also would like to try the RR , now that u have brought attention to this. Best to buy additive free , organic possibly . I found this one:
Thankyou Suz, I think part of your message may have gone missing. I'll treat Silencil as a list of things worth trying. Valerian sounds worth a go, I tried it years ago out of curiousity and found it gave me a sort of hangover. Coffee, which I find good for my heart, doesn't seem to trigger tinnitus. I've found an online source for RR here in Russia but will enquire in pharmacies for an over the counter source. I find RR seems to take the edge off the tinnitus, reducing some of the higher frequencies. Please PM me with your experience if you try it. My tinnitus was triggered by the AZ vaccine, it may be that what helps one person doesn't help another.
yes i see how you can get some ideas from the Silencil in regard to ingredients . But Silencil itself has probably got additives and fillers and stuff which can irritate the T .
I was put off Silencil by the marketing, and the price. When I bought this medicine I bought it only for the hawthorn berries and had forgotten that I'd got the idea to try the berries from the Silencil ad. which I'd seen some weeks ago. So I consumed the rhodolia with no idea that it was claimed to help T or was in Silencil. It sounds like something worth trying in its 'pure' form ie. without anything else, as a general nervous system tonic.
I see on Silencil website it states : "A natural composition
Silencil comprises of carefully mixed plant extracts and vitamins that are of the purist and highest quality. There are no additives, chemicals, or other harmful agents that have been added in a formula" So no additives fillers etc , as I presumed in prev message .
Many supplement manufacturers around the world use additives and but there are more and more natural products out there nowadays as this is the direction the supplements industry is going
have you tried magnesium , as many T sufferers take this. I took some yesterday evening and I think it had effect on T ? What else have you tried that works for T?
I bought some magnesium for my heart at around the time the tinnitus began(immediately subsequent to the second AZ jab). Immediately after I took it the T seemed to get worse. But maybe I should try again. My magnesium is in a store in London, I may not go back for months. I like to try one thing at a time. Rhodolia is the only thing where I've noticed alleviation after taking it, more than once now. There are many possible triggers, identifying them is a problem, but there are several things I think of as potential triggers, only Rhodiola as a potential cure.
Please do. Prompted by your last question I went back to the pharmacy where I bought the pills and they sold me a bottle of tincture of R for less than a pound. It's obviously well known here so I'll try to read up on it, it will be a good exercise in reading Russian.
Just met a Sudanese medical student who thought Rhodiola is likely to help. The pharmacist earlier seemed to think the same. I'll take the recommended course, if there are no side-effects, and see.
hi Ivan - did u gain any benefits from using the RR for yr tinnitus - i have purchased some but not really tried with it , as yet , because i was trying something else
