Hello all….this is only my second post but I have been reading and sympathetic to the posts I’ve read from fellow T sufferers
My life went from normal with mild tinnitus to an annoying spike and then another spike, and whilst I am able to sleep a little better than I was I still wonder if I’m doing anything wrong.
I’ve totally elimated caffeine out of my life and alcohol because they are not necessary to me but I’m still smoking and more at weekends when I’m not working.
I’m wearing earmuffs at work because I work in a factory and although I can hear the T all day I know I’m surely not exposing my ears to more damage
What I would like to ask you good people is that,do any of you smoke?did any of you find that quitting or cutting right down help?,and is smoking too close to bedtime a factor in getting off to sleep.
I’ve read all of the things on the internet about nicotine being bad for T,but to be honest I might not have got to today without cracking up completely
There are lots of good reasons to quit smoking and I really do enjoy a cigarette but at times it gets out of hand and I’m sure that’s not good….I welcome your opinions
Thanks

Well done for eliminating caffeine , that’s something I need to do. Well you know that smoking is bad for your health and what you need to do there.
Tinnitus is a pain in the neck for us all , everything we try and do is “ trial and error”. I find one of the main things is to try and keep calm , less stress , walking in the fresh air and listening to all the outside sounds . Tinnitus is the most ridiculously mysterious of all medical conditions . One day maybe it will be more fully understood towards a cure.
By comparison, there's far less evidence that caffeine and alcohol have any impact on tinnitus. Sensible intakes, in line with health guidance, shouldn't present too many problems.
By all means look at reducing and then trying to stop smoking altogether, but do it in a structured way so that you reduce the likelihood of going back to the habit. Don't put yourself under unnecessary pressure.
Just think about what you can do with the money you would save from no longer smoking...
Hi Bowler. I've still to knock caffeine on the head but been cutting down.I dont drink alcohol much as it makes me feel sick & dizzy. I eat too many crisps for my own good tho...
My advice is...if you CAN stop smoking, I would...
My old boss is a lovely man, retired now and when I worked with him back in the 90s he tried to stop smoking and as an incentive he had a tin in his office and put all the money he would've spent on cigarettes in the tin. Great idea, nice n simple...
...That said...no-one's perfect, we all have our vices and habits.
All the best to you...and dont be hard on yourself...small steps.
Hi Fuzzy. I like a crisp - especially ready salted. Probably not very good for the T . I tried the ones where you can add salt but they’re inedible without it.
