Once self employed but now a full time 24/7/365 Carer for a terminally ill close family friend.
My Tinitus is a iron/steel hammer banging down on an Anvil constantly. It's deafening and making me unwell. Current treatments are Zopiclone for sleep (x3) per week. Betahistine x3 daily and depression tablets Mirtazapine. Ramipril for high blood pressure and Alanzaparole for Barretts eosophagus diagnosis.

I'm so sorry Rickardo that you are suffering so much. I see you've posted about Zopliclone and Betahistine separately. Are you in the UK? If so, you'll have heard of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. They updated their guidelines for GPs a year ago but possibly many GP's didn't take these guidelines on board. You might like to read these guidelines which you can access easily by searching for NICE Guidelines and then Tinnitus in their search box. When you've read these you can go back to your doctor and suggest (in the nicest possible way) that they follow the recommendations.
And, have you read the website of the British Tinnitus Association? There are lots of tips there.
There is no cure for Tinnitus but you can gradually get on top of it. It is a common condition, about one in twelve of us have it.
Thank you for your reply. Very informative. Today I bough some bluetooth head blinds/ eye cover in the hope I can sleep listening to rain. I will keep you posted on how good/ bad they are. I hope they work? I live in the UK.
I'm around 4/5months in with tinnitus. It's gradually got less intrusive for me. I was prescribed zopiclone 7mg as I was struggling for any decent sleep. I did find I got rebound insomnia if I took too many in the week but needs must early on I would have tried anything.
My doctor wasn't very helpful or sympathetic but giving me a repeat prescription for 14 3.75mg of zopiclone for now per month instead of anti anxiety or depression tabs suited me. I'm still waiting for an audiologist app.
Now I hardly take any Zopiclone, but handy to have as a backup. I now use an app on my phone called Beltone Tinnitus Calmer every night and I drift off. I don't use headphones anymore as that coupled with not wearing ear protective ppe at work is reason why I think I have T.
I really think getting sleep and trying to believe it will improve has helped me. I hope things improve for you soon.
Wow! Andy thank you for your reply and comments. It's a constant learning curve with me regarding treatment for tinnitus and I really do need the x3 per week 7.5mg Zopiclone. I will look into the App you recommend and I'll download it tonight and give it a try. Thank you so much for your advice.
Welcome Rickardo. Sorry you're having such a tough time with tinnitus - among other things. You're not alone. I hope things improve for you very soon. All the best.
Hi Rikardo I note your comment re Aspirin. Do you know if that's true of Clopdigrel? I'm prescribed it in place if Asporin due to heart valve issues, but I understand it works in a similar blood thinning role to Aspirin ?
