Resuming diuretics after C Diff

MississaugaLiver profile image

My husband has just come home following a week in hospital with his third C Diff in 7 months. He’s now extremely bloated as he was taken off his diuretics while in hospital. My question is, how many here on this forum resume their diuretics upon discharge? He can barely eat and sleep is also problematic. The Dr in hospital told him to wait until he sees his specialist before resuming, but that could be a couple of weeks.

I entirely sympathise with you and your husband. I am post TX but had C Diff for four months + as a result of anti biotics to treat cellulitis. The worst parts were dealing with the diarrhea and having to wait four weeks after the course of anti biotic to be tested again. I am not sure that either the first or second line treatment worked but a third drug (whose name I cannot remember but could be monuril) actually cleared up the diarrhea.

Thanks. Were you on diuretics? Hubby keeps getting more and more bloated and wants to resume them.

Hi. No I was not on diuretics. I was just illustrating and sympathising about C.Diff and the problem of diarrhea. I hope your hubby is over this problem and there are no more hiccups with his treatments.
