Childs Pugh B - MELD 11 Liver Cirrosis to NAFLD < This is what it says on his letter.
Im here primarily to ask, at what point should I call the hosptial for help?
My dad has severe ascites and other symptoms (fatigue, sleepiness) that we are well aware of and believe are being controlled with meds and an appointment for a fluid drain from his stomach area next week.
But in the last few days he has seemingly become more and more confused and his speech has become more slurred. He is more irritable than usual and is literally nodding off to sleep during conversation then waking up seconds later.
A few mornings ago mum made breakfast, he ate it and as mum put the dishes in the sink he asked her what it was they are going to have for breakfast. Just one example of confusion.
Dad and mum are reluctant to call for an ambulance, but honeslty Im not sure if dad even would ask for one, and mum usually follows what dad says. Which leaves kind of stuck with what to do, me and my partner (my partner mostly, he has done a lot of research and feels not enough is being done to help dads quality of life) want to call for an ambulance tomorrow. To have him cared for until he has the drain on his stomach done.
Because dad is tougher than steel I feel every time he sees a doctor (weeks inbetween visits) he tells them hes 'belting' and so they don't get to see how confused he is during the half an hour appointment.
I am very concerned about the last few days, he is more confused, severely fatigued, irritable, not eating much at all. Mum and dad are simply waiting for the next appoinment. Im worried he won't last that long.
