Hi againI have a question about medication

How often do you get reviwed for your medication? James has a blood test request letter and a txt to say that the doctor has reviewed his meds and reissued them, now that's fine but no-one has seen James since last year. Is that normal?

My GP reviews my medication yearly, nurse just ticks boxes at my yearly long term condition review. Depending on what medication you are on it can be done without speaking to you, certainly was during covid.Hilary

I don’t take any now…but when I was first diagnosed I had a bagful of medication. I don’t think I’d seen so many meds and had one of those tablet organisers to remember what to take and when. My consultant reviewed my meds with me every appointment and fortunately took me off things as my health improved. The pharmacist in my GP practice was also great and went through my meds with me when I was first discharged and then reviewed when I requested my repeat medication. My GP took me off some medication too.

My husband's medication is never routinely reviewed. He was taken in for an ascetic tap and the hospital stopped one water tablet and reduced his iron tablets which resulted in his haemoglobin dropping so acutely he needed a blood and iron transfusion. They changed the dosage of his other water tablet but never informed his GP. We requested a review with the GP which resulted in a reduction in his blood pressure pill and at his last diabetic review he was taken off the metformin. He has Portal hypertension but currently takes nothing for it. One doctor said he should have been on Thiamine so put him on it, another said he didn't need it. To be honest it is really confusing and worrying.
