besides inflamtion and BMI giving possible elevated liver stifness readings with fibroscan. Can a enlarged liver or a severe amount of fat in the liver stage 3 wich is 66% of fat or more increase liver stifness and give a higher readings? Or can any amount of fat affect it as well.?

Not that is a very interesting question. I hope you get a reply as I would also like to know the same thing as you. Really glad you asked. My liver fat is 316 out of 400. Very fatty. Hope you get some answers. Best wishes G

Yes I like to read a learn as much as I can on all of this as it interests me. And the fact that testing seems to be all over the place with results and false positives and negatives with every exam .

Hi again. Yes, I like to do the same. I'm currently taking a whole bunch of supplements too. My situation isn't helped by the fact that my gp says I don't have cihrossis and the hepatic consultant says I do. To clarify this conflicting situation, I had to ASK TWICE for a fibroscan. This confirms that I do indeed have cihrossis between F3 and F4. F4 being the worst. So at least, I finally got some answers. I was shocked at the fat content though and I'm currently on a diet to get this down as fast as possible. My situation is drink related but I never drank that much. I wasn't an alcoholic in my view ( my son agrees on this too). I gave up alcohol completely over 2 years ago. Guess I drank way way to much so I deserve this. MY FAULT COMPLETELY. I just wish i could undo the damage I caused.

I think it's awful that people end up with cihrossis which is NOT caused by alcohol. Truly awful and so unfair.

Please don’t be so hard on yourself. No one should ever get cirrhosis. I know how you feel though. I have it from metabolic syndrome but still blame myself for not taking better care.

From what I’ve read about the fibroscan, it’s really hard to get an accurate answer with a fatty liver. Also, fibroscans are not always accurate anyway. Seems like CT scans and ultrasounds do a better job of diagnosing. Also, biopsy can be helpful. I think you sort of have to look at the results from a buy of tests and figure out along with your doctor where you probably are. You can get better with a good diet and exercise and I think that is really encouraging

yes there are so many diffrent things that affect the liver so it’s tough to get a read.

My fibroscan shows 285 S3 liver fat, F1 fibrosis, which is on the r Cusp of F2, ultra sound shows F3, 4 CT scans showed normal liver and 1 CT scan showed very mild Cirrhosis (2 before and 2 after). Go figure. One more ultrasound, then probably a biopsy for me. I was told by my GI/Liver PA that fibroscan is more accurate that an ultrasound. Good luck figuring out about your test(s).

Wow seems like your exams are all over the place. A fibroscan showing F-1 , a Ultrasound showing F-3 ? I didn’t know a regular ultrasound could give you a F score?

Me neither.

as for the ultrasound I would say with a good tech they can pick up irregularity of liver and shape of liver and the report would have findings as to what they can see.
