Hi, not really sure what I’m looking for. Perhaps guidance or reassurance. I stumbled across this site whilst googling symptoms and so happy to find somewhere that isn’t as scary as Dr Google!
A little background, I’m 37, non drinker.
About 18 years ago I started to get pain under my right ribs. I was young and wasn’t really concerned so never got it checked out.
I’ve since had a family and my priorities changed. The pain was intermittent, comes in what I’d describe as a flare up. Anyway, I went to the docs about 8 years ago and they did bloods and an ultrasound. Both came back fine. The pain continued on and off but not enough really to warrant concerns.
So 2 months ago I went through a really stressful time at work. Caused me to lose some weight, nothing major, about 10lbs and I also missed a period. I put these both down to the stress. Anyway, that episode of stress has passed and things had gone back to normal. Until I started feeling light headed and dizzy about a month ago.
Doctors did blood and all was fine again apart from low b12 which I have now got supplements for. The episodes of dizziness are sporadic, gone for a few days then come back. I have been back to the docs serval times but I’m sure at this point they think it’s in my head. I mentioned the pain under my ribs and the doctor said that the ultra sound 8 years ago was fine so he wouldn’t order a new one. The doctor believes the pain is muscle related.
I couldn’t put it to the back of my mind so I paid for a private scan. This came back normal.
Im now at a loss. The pain is intermittent and seems worse when im lying on my side.
I generally don’t know if it’s in my head or something is wrong. Obviously a Google search yields results suggesting cirrhosis. With further googling I read that bloods and ultrasound results can be normal with this, sending my in a loop of thinking it’s nothing then thinking it’s something serious.
Again, sorry for the long post. Wondering what others may suggest? I haven’t been to the docs since I had the private ultrasound. For reference the notes on the report read:
Liver is normal in size, echogenicity and echo texture. Parenchyma appears homogenous. No intra hepatic ductal dilation seen. No focal lesions seen within.
Thin walled gall bladder shows no pathology inside
Common bile duct measures 2.3mm and is within normal limits
Spleen is smooth and show no pathology. Slowed measure 8.34cm. No ascites seem.
Kidneys are normal in size and thickness. No evidence of scarring or social mass lesions
