Hi Zippy, when was your diagnosis? The usual/standard protocol for monitoring cirrhosis is 6 monthly ultrasound scans (to check for changes in the liver) and 6 monthly bloods. If your diagnosis was longer than 6 months ago and you haven't had any follow up then you need to chase up your consultant and see what the next steps are.
When you say long term infection, was this viral hepatitis or something else?
The BLT has a page all about cirrhosis which will give you more general information about the condition, it is useful to educate yourself so that you can make the most of consultations when they come and ensure you are getting the appropriate care.

Thanks Katie, was about six weeks ago, yes, its put down as viral hepatitis. Thank you for the infoKeep well
Have you had treatment for the hepatitis now? Hopefully if the viral attack on the liver is stopped then the liver may improve a bit. You need to give it lots of TLC going forwards, proper diet, exercise and no booze.
It's early days in your diagnosis so hopefully you'll get your liver clinic appointment and appropriate treatment and monitoring will kick in.
Best wishes,
Katie
