The transplant assessment is the best full body m.o.t. you'll ever have and they will be looking at whether you actually 'need' a transplant at this time i.e. are you actually poorly enough and on the other side if things are you well enough to go through to transplant i.e. nutritionally well, no extra hepatic cancers, lungs, heart and body fit enough to withstand the trauma and recovery of the op. They check for your support networks, your mental health and your prior compliance with medical regimes, no contraindicators - drugs, drink issues ongoing etc.

The multi-disciplinary team look at all results from tests and discussions and make their decision and there can be various outcomes - yes, immediate listing, no - not being listed at all (some folks are too poorly, not well enough to endure transplant, have heart, lung problems or cancers or arn't deemed mentally well enough), then there is a decision to list but pending further tests, nutritional build up etc. or not needing transplant listing at this time and an eye kept on you in case need does arise.

Just jump through every hoop demanded and see how you go.

When my hubby was assesses he needed an operation to embolize some aneurysms they found during assessment and he was thereafter listed and monitored closely including by liver specialist dietician who wanted him to gain some additional weight (reserves for op.). After 10 months my hubby actually go so stable.that he no longer fit the criteria for t/p and was delisted - 8 years later and he's still.ticking along with his own liver.

I wish you all the best for your assessment and hope you get whatever outcome it is you wish.

Had my assessment 2 months ago, if you are quite fit and well now you should easily get on it i just got on it last Thursday took me a while to convince them i would not drink ever again .

mine only lasted 2 days at QE hospital then 2 more trips to see diet nurse they wanted to build my muscles up which a few simple excises at home that was all if yours is due to drink they might give you a booklet to fill out all quite simple really good luck
