my dad has really bad Hepatic Encephalopathy, we walked him into hospital on the 2nd of jan because he was hallucinating. Since then he has gone off his feet and can no longer feed himself, double Incontanence too. We have just moved him to a nursing home where he has 1-1 care. He sleeps 20 hours a day. Are we loosing him? Has anyone seen anyone recover from this level? Xx

Hi Tinaloo,

My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

My dad suffers badly from HE. At one point it was a couple episodes a week where he was really bad (he has refused any help or treatment).

He has the issues with incontanence and spends a lot of time sleeping but some days are better than others.

As a family we’ve often wondered whether he’s at the end but he does always seem to pull through.

Hopefully some other members can give you more advice
