Saw my consultant this morning and asked him to clarify, Barrett’s oesophagus is a thickening of the wall similar to the stomach which can become cancerous hence the need for regular monitoring, varices are the things that burst and cause massive bleeding which happened to me as I have both conditions along with cirrhosis and cancer. But today was very good news for me as all is stable. Hope this is helpful and all the best.
