Everything ok with bloods, 2 weeks ago ast/alt was 24 for both. Recent blood test last week, ast is slightly higher than alt, although still in range. Is it serious?

The De ritis ratio is not looked at by doctors unless figures are out of range or significantly elevated. It is not used as any sort of diagnostics tool unless there is already an indication of liver disease when it can be used to determine cause of liver disease.

Do not go googling potential issues (nor searching this forum for answers on De ritis ratio as many commentators have gone and searched out the most obscure papers which often contradict themselves and their theories) - if you think you do have cause for concern then arrange more follow up with your doctor.

Thank you Katie. The ratio is 1.09, some say it’s normal. I’m completely teatotal and have been for 15 months but drank wine on a regular basis before that for years. My other results are good and have had 2 us, ct colonoscopy and 2 Fibroscans all good and normal. I appreciate your response.

With that number of good tests and good bloods then you would appear to have nothing at all to worry about at all.

Carry on living your life.

Have you heard that it is a ratio over 2 that is of any significance? Thanks for your time. Hope your husband is still doing well and enjoying his bike rides. X

Only if you already have a diagnosis and they are trying to establish a cause and again only when bloods are signficantly elevated.Don't send yourself down a wormhole again searching for things that arn't there.

Clear ultrasound x 2, clear fibroscans, normal bloods - all good.
