Hi Nala and welcome to our friendly place
I'm sure your consultant will go through your scan results with you and discuss any underlying issues.
Results can go up or down based on different factors. Even gaining weight can affect the scan result (as well as being bad for our livers). We tend to stick to the basics here to help our livers get better. Healthy eating (not dieting! Still eating well but eating better food) avoiding processed foods, minimising salt, sugar and bad fats and NO Alcohol (it has zero benefits and lots of calories). The Mediterranean diet is recommended. And finally exercise.
I have F3.... Fibrosis is liver damage but can be reversable if we follow the above guidelines. But moving up to F4 we near Cirrhosis and that is where things get very bad... we do not want to go there.
If there are no underlying issues and it is possible for you to change your lifestyle to the above, then your liver will thank you for it.
I hope your visit with the consultant goes well.
Dave
Hi davygravy thank you for your reply ,with the food and drink side of things i eat healthy and im not drinker as such as i can leave drink ,im an active person as my job is working on my feet all day plus i like walking aswell , i think it was a bit of a shock that my score went up as i thought it might have gone down or stayed the same but il see what the doctor says when i have my appointment in a few weeks time .
Nalabanana, Dave is correct. You need to see a specialist and find out why it progressed from f2 to f3. When you find out why remove it completely from your life or make the changes needed to stop the progression. Mine was alcohol, if I caught it at f2 or f3 all I would have had to do is stop drinking.
Thank you for your reply ,when i find out i will ,im hoping it will be straight forward thing thats causing it ,as ive had my bloods done over the last few years since i had my gallbladder removed and they have been higher than normal thats how i ended up having a fibro scan last year and repeated again this year when i was told it had gone up ..
