Why not try and see if you can start your own? I started to try and do this about two years ago but then Covid struck and the project sort of folded.
My original plan was to set this venture up as a local CIC (Community Interest Company). There were advantages in doing this as there wasn't any financial responsibilities if things didn't work out, and it also meant that lottery funding and business startup grants were available. I also managed to secure a small grant from the NIHR, but never took up the offer.
Saldy when I turned 68 I thought that this project was a little too big for me to startup on my own in my senior years. The passion was there but the reality of it all had to be considered.
I posted up a website, but I shall be taking it down later in the new-year. The idea was for not only people with liver disease, but also their carers and family members. A place where they could go and meet up with others and share their concerns and stories: liverlifecafe.co.uk/
Good Luck.
Richard
Hi there, you can join ALTA, Addenbrookes liver transplant association, as you come from Essex you would be referred to Addenbrookes if transplant is needed and they are for anyone with liver disease. There is a Facebook group or look at their website for contact details. There is also a Facebook group liver transplant support uk, very friendly and knowledgeable group with people at all stages of liver disease.Hilary
