I’m in my early 20’s - never drank in excess (only when going out, and that’s been quite rare), never smoked and I’m not overweight however my last Liver Function Bloods came back as Alkaline Phosphatase high at 108 (value was up to 104) and then it was re tested and sent off to a different lab (just because of where I live) and now I’ve been told I’ve got to see the GP due to it coming back abnormal.. slightly confused and don’t really understand it? As from good old google, it says the reference range can be up to 140. (I know it depends on labs ect). My billirubin on the first test I had back in June was 18 (highest 21) and I was close to the top range on total protein as well. Anyone been in my position? Just nervous as to what to expect. Thanks 😊

I hope someone can come along and give you some understanding, I personally do not know. Definitely make your appointment if you have not already, as nobody here can be as much help and your doctor
Normal reference ranges can differ from lab to lab plus there are different ranges dependent on age and gender & also with whatever unit size is used.
It's absolutely correct that they've retested to see if the first was a blip and are now going to follow up the abnormal result.
There are absolutely loads of reasons why you might see and elevation in ALP, it needn't be anything liver related nor sinister at all. mrlabtest.com/high-alp-alka....
Hopefully doctors will get to the bottom of it soon for you.
