Please help: Hi l have a very close... - British Liver Trust
Please help
Hi - I’m sorry hear how poorly she is and I hope things improve. You should ring one of the very nice nurses that man the support lines at the British Liver Trust - they will be able to help you.
Good luck - Peter
Sorry to hear about your loved one, it's really hard to advise on your situation not knowing what the health care system is like in Zimbabwe especially in relation to alcohol related liver issues. I know from a previous poster that the system in South Africa isn't too supportive.
You might find the pages on the BLT website on alcohol and liver disease useful and the one on cirrhosis, Sadly if your loved one doesn't cease the alcohol then there will be little chance of recovery.

Hi l don’t know why it’s come up Zimbabwe we live in Manchester in England
Ah, we get members from all round the world, maybe a slip in the list when you were creating your profile. Not to worry, at least we know the UK systems in place for ALRD.
Difficult times at the moment with people struggling to be able to support loved ones at appointments so you know what they have or haven't been told. Sad thing is you can't make them stop drinking, you can be there for support but until such a point as they are willing or indeed able to seek the alcohol support then it's going to be a battle. I am pretty sure they'll have been told by hospital doctors that this is acohol related and that cessation is absolutely necessary. They should put supports in place to help with that if the patient is willing.

Can you correct this on your personal details?
Hello and welcome to the forum.
It is extremely difficult to watch someone you love in such dire straits - physically and emotionally draining.
Katie has given you links to some of our publications. There is another one called the Patient Charter which outlines what care someone with liver disease should receive.
