Constipated without laxative

Been constipated for weeks. Had trace bilirubin in urine sample but blood panel perfect. Doc won’t send me for scan. I have not had alcohol for weeks and appetite returned and have more energy but terrified I have Cirrohsis. Is constipation a major symptom or is it anxiety? I drank a bottle of wine most nights for years.

Hello, you can usually buy laxative from pharmacies. Granted I suspect it’s normal to go through bouts of constipation, as someone with bowel disease I can’t really attest to that though 🤣. If your bloods are normal I’m sure your liver will be fine! Good you’ve gone to doctor. If it’s not liver and you’re still worried about it then go to docs about maybe other things it could be. Often an indication for liver problems is pale stools and dark urine for me, never had constipation though. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for that. Stool not white or clay coloured but tan coloured and urine never pale. My eating habits have changed though, just eating to keep going because when ZI’m very worried appetite goes completely. When I do relax I enjoy and taste what I’m eating.

I hope whatever it is they can help you feel back to normal again, take care of yourself. Keep an eye on symptoms and keeping at doctor to get a scan. If it puts your mind at ease at all, my bloods have always come back with abnormal liver function with my liver disease they've always painted a very accurate picture of what's going on for me and it tends to match up with my symptoms. Might be different for everyone though?

Also if I lose my appetite, I tend to just force myself to eat often remind myself that without fuel it'll be even harder for my body to heal the get better.
