Hi Ticktoc,

Whilst we do understand how worried you are, no one is medically qualified to give you any advice on the forum.

If your liver consultant is on maternity leave, then there would be cover in place for their patients. Maybe you could consider getting in touch with the medical secretary who may be able to advise you which doctor is covering your consultants work load and organise an appointment.

Good luck.

Hi,

We are sorry to read that you are finding it so hard to obtain medical advice and help.

Regarding access to a liver consultant, we would suggest you now consider escalating to PALS ( Patient Advice and Liaison) at the hospital. They investigate all patient concerns. Here is a link to the NHS page where you can search for your hospital PALS contact details:

nhs.uk/common-health-questi...

Regarding access to your GP, you may want to consider requesting to speak to the GP practice manager today and fully explaining your concerns and requesting a GP appointment.

Regarding the nurse helpline at the British Liver Trust, we are currently extremely busy and I was working alone yesterday none stop all day. I do apologise you could not get through, if you try today, both Kirsty and myself are working so there will be more chance of someone answering. Please do note, that if it is a medication query, we cannot legally answer.

I would suggest to try the GP and PALS first to try to get access to your own doctor.

Warm wishes.
