Hi. My partner has hep B and the consultant has been advising on treatment and suggested interferon. He is concerned about the side effects especially in light of his job as a driver. I appreciate everyone is different but please can you let me know of experience on interferon treatment. Thanks.

Why would he use interferon? There are several newer antiviral agents that can be used like Tenofovir and Entecavir that have a high success rate in treating hep B. I think they may have fewer side effects but you should ask a doctor.
I agree. I was first treated with Interferon after a very high viral load and fibroscan results yet my biopsy was understated. Interferon put me into decomp and they were talking about transplant but eventually my liver has gone back to comp. it’s taken over 18 months to get my self back to some sort of normal but I’m left with many other complications which I didn’t have before. It’s worth a serious chat with your consultant as if it isn’t the right treatment it can really cause you problems.
Sorry see edits I was first on interferon
I agree with what has been said here.
If he can avoid taking it he should.
I had a terrible time and ended up highly emotional and had to drop out of university and ended up losing my job and it didn't work out.
The new generation of drugs were a walk in the park in comparison.
Best of luck to you both.
