I'm new, so hi to all. I've been diagnosed with liver disease, stage 4 in 2018. Basically been left to get on with things, but recently have had health issues flare, and wanted advice from others if, indeed it is my liver deciding to let me know it's not well. Hair loss, excessive sweating, inability to sleep, loss of concentration, pain on right side, extreme fatigue.

When you say you've been left to get on with things yourself, do you mean you are not under a hospital specialist? With stage 4 liver disease/cirrhosis you should be getting regular check ups, bloods and 6 monthly ultrasound scans to monitor the condition and run this type of query past.

It sounds like at minimum you need an up to date set of blood tests, the symptoms you describe could be linked to your liver disease.

You should be under a consultant and being monitored properly.

The British Liver Trust has an excellent guide with a patient charter which details what you should expect from your care and if it is lacking you need your GP to refer you to a consultant (preferably a hepatologist).

Thank you, they called me with results and then only blood tests I've had were about 6 months ago when Biliruben was showing level 24. And they said no further action was necessary, I shall contact GP in morning and ask for some help. I've only had one scan and that diagnosed the liver disease, doc called and said it was bad then, in 2018.

Hi and welcome,

Hopefully you are under the care of a liver specialist team? If you are experiencing an onset of new symptoms it is very important to discuss this with them.

If you are UK based, we have a nurse led helpline that is open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 and we can have a chat.

Best wishes.
