So dad is still taking small steps slowly but surely forward, heâs on tacrolimus, mychoohelate and prednisalone, he had some swelling in ankles/feet when he came home which went up and down but seem to be staying swollen now, we seen renal team at our local hospital last week and he wasnât over concerned, dad is really stressed about it saying he might aswell give up, I think heâs worrying things are taking a step back does anybody have any experience of swelling 5 weeks post transplant ?

Sounds like your dad is doing really well đand for at least the first year it is fine tuning drugs and sorting out what works best. I had swelling of my ankles due to a good pressure tablet called amlodipine! I was switched to Doxazocin and that reduced the swelling!
It is still early days, we are all different and respond to drugs differently and he sounds a bit like he is being too hard on himself and expecting too much too soon!
Call renal team. Ask them.. advocate for your doctor. Itâs OK to be firm, consistent, persistent and nice. Itâs the doctorâs job to relieve PT anxieties with facts, concern and empathy.
You can get some fluid retention with thd prednisolone. It should reduce as they reduce the dose over time. As his kidney function improves that will help too.
