If this is a new symptom you should run it past your doctor. I am not quite sure what you mean by hand spasms - cramp can be caused by various mineral deficiencies which doctor can check for in blood tests (& are common in liver illness), there can be tremors also caused by deficiencies or in cirrhosis you can get a condition called asterixis which is hand flapping and this can be associated with toxin build up and hepatic encephalopathy.
As none of us are qualified to assess and certainly not via a one line post it would be advisable to get this situation assessed by your doctors who can examine in person and carry out necessary tests.

Many thanks for that. This is occasionally happening to my wife she doesn’t have the hand flapping more like the thumb and a few fingers go straight and stiff unable to be bent then it clears. Will run it past the doctor when we get to see one. Thanks again.
My husband has liver disease and when he gets dehydrated and his bowels stop moving he gets symptoms like cramping and hands shaking. If we are not able to get his bowels moving the three or four times a day his doctor recommends (he is on 20mg lactulose three times a day indefinitely) then he slips towards an episode of encephalopathy. He’s had his mineral levels checked at the GP and all is ‘fine’. We’ve also been told by his Functional medicine practitioner that the cramping is due to muscle deterioration so I think nutrition is key there. He is now on Ensure drinks daily in addition to regular food because it was challenging getting in all the 3000 + calories that his doctor recommended.
I hope you are able to find a solution to your cramping. Maybe something as simple as Tonic water will help. Best of luck and blessings! x
Hello,
I suffer from horrendous hand spasms/cramping and feet/shins. To the point where I jump about and hit my hands on walls. I can go many months till the next episode and then it will start again, always after 4pm and lasts for a few days then goes away again.
I’ve kept a diary which I religiously log each time it happens. I eat at least 4 bananas a day, have had bloods checked for specific deficiencies in relation to cramping - nothing stands out. It’s not associated with constipation and magnesium sprays don’t offer any relief.
I absolutely dread the next episode as it’s so hellish.
Sometimes it gets so bad my pinky or thumb stick out at odd angles and nothing with shift them back into place.
Sorry I can’t be more helpful but if you get any advice fromGP I’d appreciate if you shared it.
Thankyou
