Hello!. I am new to all this and scaring myself silly all the time. I have learned a lot from you already, thank you.

Diagnosed ALD Sept 2019 (Level 4 gross ascites, digestive problems, muscle wastage, exhaustion, confusion) I knew what it was long before but it took others time to catch up. Stomach upset/wind being one of the laughable diagnoses (I had a 9 month pregnant stomach) and the scariest one, ovarian cancer metastatised to my liver which would have meant "bye Wendy"

Already given up drinking but couldn't get treatment until seen by a gastroenterologist. Nightmare. By the time the referral came weeks later was given 6 hospitals, none had any appointments nor could tell me when they would have. I went privately at considerable cost for consultations and tests.

Responded well to Spironolactone (was losing a litre/kilo of fluid a day and the relief was wonderful) It is now creeping back and the latest is that I have some small oesophogeal varices. Beta blockers started today but I have low blood pressure anyway so a bit concerned about that one.

Liver disease. The "Gift that keeps on giving" All my fault though of course and I know I am not as bad as so many others.

Wendy
