Hi just a note to remember the connection between the heart and autoimmune liver disease. I have to go for an ECG on Monday. My heartbeat is off. The gp said thathere is a little couple of faint beats before my heart actually beats...she asked if I had palpitations, I said yes but it only lasts for seconds.
She mentioned the link between the liver and the heart something that she called hyper dynamic syndrome...
I also understand that steroids and mycophenolate cause fast heart beat, but it says nothing about raised blood pressure on the information sheet.
I have raised blood pressure as well. So yes I am a little concerned.
Be well people xx

"Hyperdynamic heart syndrome" is basically a nondescript condition or diagnosis covering a broad spectrum of possibilities. To say that a heart is hyperdynamic means that it is overactive — beating too hard, pumping too hard and circulating blood at too rapid a rate.
The hyperdynamic syndrome is a late consequence of portal hypertension in cirrhosis. The principal hemodynamic manifestations of the hyperdynamic syndrome are high cardiac output, and increased heart rate and total blood volume, accompanied by reduced total systemic vascular resistance.
I presented to GP in Aug with chest pain. Straight to A&E jumped the Q on the bench ECG. Chest x-ray bloods nothing found.
Got a referral to Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic Tue last week. Should have been 1.5-2hrs testing treadmill etc however Dr Stethoscope noted racing 💓 & skipped beats.
ECG confirmed Atrial fibrillation. Put me on beta blockers (stroke risk) and appointment for defib, a bump start back into rythm. If all goes well stop beta blocker six weeks thereafter.
My blood pressure is fine.
Ps Dr tried to blame past alcohol abuse.
No disrespect but if you didn't drink or smoke they'd be lost. 🤔
Should add that he said it could be a one of and it could be ok the next day. I monitor my HR with a Fitbit and have to say pretty chilled more on the low side. Currently 50 BPM. ❤️
I will go have the ECG on Monday and take it from there. I have raised blood pressure plus dizziness, nausea, headache, sleepiness, slurred speech and fatigue from hell. Not my usual self at all.
I have been taken off all medication until I see hepatolagist on 30th. All except budesonide. Since stopping the mycophenolate, I can function much better.
I hope they find something that works for me without the horrible side effects because I am fed up of being a test subject ....I just want to be well x
Hi everyone, the ECG on Monday was normal. I still have the raised blood pressure, the dizziness, the fatigue from hell, but at least we now know it's not my heart.
I think its portal vein to be honest and what doctor may have heard is that echoing or struggling a little.
Still on no medication except urso and budesonide, nausea comes and goes but it's kind of a usual thing for me these past 6 months.
I am waiting now to see what happens on the 30th when I see consultant.
