This could explain a lot....😯😯😯

A study on bacteria in the gut producing excessive alcohol, leading to NAFLD and possibly beyond, without even physically drinking oneself. Maybe it can't be avoided in some of us? πŸ€” but healthy diet obviously crucial.

Interesting! Hmmm. Lots more studies will follow no doubt.

How on earth do you come across these titbits 😁

I read a lot miles 😁, not sure how reliable it is but it looks genuine enough to me πŸ™‚ xxx

Yes, I read through it and it looks to be genuine. It seems that one of the main things to avoid if you carry this virus is sugar (and alcohol obviously) but that's a good idea anyway. Alf

Hi - sorry I wasn’t implying it wasn’t accurate or anything, I did mean just that - interesting 😁!

I know miles 😊, I was questioning the validity myself. It seems it's been looked at before from some other replies. Needs further research but all promising 😁 xxx

I read something similar in the past about the condition β€˜leaky gut’ which I think can cause something similar.

The jury is out it seems regarding this, link below is helpful.

Blaming alcohol-producing bacteria is the easy way any layperson would think. The problem with the study is that those bacteria exist even from childhood. why NAFLD only after 40 years of age? do all people having those bacteria will have NAFLD? NO. There are a million types of bacteria in the gut. Blaming them may be good for politics but not for science because it cannot be proved.

Im not personally blaming anything for anything and I well understand the possible limitations of the study with regards to the diversity of the microbiome of the digestive system. Having said that, how do we know that in some people, an accumulation of a certain type of bacteria can't cause damage over a number of years, if allowed to proliferate due to a bad diet? Maybe even beginning in childhood? We don't unless somebody studies it. Anyway, those are my thoughts. I thought the article was worth a read, hence why I shared with the group, I welcome and am interested in, any research into NAFLD and liver disease as a whole, I'm not interested in politics.

Hi Maverick. I read the article to mean that Klebsiella pneumoniae 'could ' be to blame in 'some' cases for NAFLD. So surely this must warrant further investigation? Regards. Alf

I appreciate you guys keep an eye on the recent development and thank for posting the article. I pointed out what is wrong with the conclusion of the study. it is an essential process of science to point out what observation it did not explain. don't take it personally. Take newton theory of gravity, it is sufficient to explain earthly phenomenon. Albert einstein pointed out it is simplistic.

Medicine people simply ignore time. understand Time and causality. a genetic defect exists from birth. a bacteria cause disease from 12 hrs to 2 days, it does not take 40 years nor a cumulative effect.

Eliminating what doesn't cause disease will only lead to the true cause.

In politics, you can say anything without actual evidence. In science you need proof. saying things that cannot be proven is equivalent of playing politics. according to string theory Trillion of trillion parallel universe exist which cannot be proved. it is up to you to judge it is a science or mathematical jugglery.

Omg we really don’t want a lecture please Maverick. Not at this time of night....Well I don’t anyway. And no I don’t have to read it, so I didn’t- I gave up halfway.

Sorry but that’s me with my viewpoint... since you’ve had yours...

Yes it’s really interesting, I have definitely read this before, maybe not this post but on something. It does interest me as does anything relating to the gut and liver since being diagnosed with cirrhosis. I’ll be honest before this I didn’t really have a clue what went on inside and how complicated and intwined everything is.

Thank you for sharing this, it is really interesting to look at the important role the gut plays in our overall health.
