Just to let you know, Richard has been a massive support to many people on this forum. He has a vast amount of knowledge of the liver from how it works to how it fails. He has helped people who have abused alcohol due to mental trauma and supported others through liver transplants all through his own bitter experiences. He is now spending a lot of time and energy on finding out about the latest tests and treatments for liver damage, whatever the cause or reason, looking to increase support for mental health and alcohol abuse in his area. All of which will greatly benefit future, genuine sufferers posting on this forum.

Phoenix - I mean I don’t know if it’s actually true that Tonka metal toys’ paint had lead in it, but there was a lot of fuss when I was young(er) about this issue. I used to have little soldiers that were made of lead, we also had panted wood that contained lead in our house. There was a lot of stuff in the press at that time raising concerns about it all!

I found this:-

β€œAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the most common sources for lead poisoning in children involve paint as well as toys manufactured with lead in the paint, plastic, or metal. In the United States the use of lead in household paints was banned prior to 1978”.

Hello, Slaines - I don’t think we’ve β€œmet,” so let me first say hello. The comments on your post caught my attention because there is discussion about the whereabouts of Richard. He has been quiet for awhile, so I’d like to take a moment to introduce him to you and all the other thousands of people reading this forum.

Richard64 is a very respected member of our forum who always offers excellent, helpful advice to those in need. I’m sure your group meant no harm to him in this thread, but if you all could take a moment to re-read it, you may find that, like me, some of the comments can be interpreted as mocking him. (calling him the Missing Dick, for example.) Please just try for a moment to think how all of you would feel if you read such a discussion going on about yourself. It would sting, pure and simple.

I am increasingly mystified by this forum, because within posts, members are increasingly referred to in an unfavorable or just slightly negative way - sometimes by codename and sometimes not - as if they do not actually exist and cannot read the words being written about them. It’s like talking about someone behind their back when they are standing right there. Richard is a very real man with feelings that matter - just like all of us. I am delighted that all of you have become such good friends, but I wonder if you could consider the idea that this may make you less careful with your comments than you otherwise might be.

Also, I hope that β€œthe team” refers to everyone on this forum? The way it is used in this thread appears to refer to just your small group. This might lead to others feeling ostracized and hesitant to ask for the help they need. I know this was not your intent.

Thank you for your kind consideration of my thoughts and feelings about parts of this post. My statements do not refer to any single one of you, but rather to the overall tenor of the conversation. I am writing only from a place of concern and sadness. I decided to comment publicly rather than via PM so that others could learn about Richard and also not feel left out.

Sent with best wishes for everyone’s happiness and good health. 🌺

β€’ in reply toAmericanDemocrat

Good Morning American Dermocrat!

Firstly I would like to say hi from a kind caring and loving person who would NOT hurt or offend anyone intentionally which you can see if you have time to read my notes written to many people over the numerous months!,

My comment referring to Richard (Dick) was not meant to be taken in the wrong context which it may have been. I thought at the time of replying to others that Richard was part of the team on this forum who helped others in the past but joined in with a bit of banter now and then to lighten there/ others stressful lives!

Just so your aware, I'm a serious person at heart and an ex nurse, I maybe incorrect in blowing my own trumpet but in the short time of joining this wonderful forum I believe I'm respected for who I am and I do not follow any kind of strict protocol. I know that there are many of us on this forum who are also deeply caring individuals with lots of medical knowledge (like yourself I'm guessing) and there are those special people who spare hours of each day monitoring this forum hoping that they maybe in a position to offer (none medical advice) but share there wealth of health experiences to ease others concerns or worries in the only way they know how too!

Please take this note as not an apology as there was no nasty intent meant towards Richard/Dick for short!

May I wish you and everyone reading this note a lovely forthcoming weekend!

Love from Trish xxxx

Great post Trishi. I don’t think AD directed this post specifically at you at all but more at others who AD thinks have been unreasonable towards Richard. In others I include myself. It's my pleasure, as every little thought per day helps to cheer someones day up! It's also brought others together who have now shared so many old wonderful memories with other friends, so I'm feeling happy for each and every one of them today including myselfπŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Remember you can share LOVE with one an other in so many ways ... just being there always is one!
