Does general bloodwork show liver disorder?

I have been in hospital recently for a d and c. They took blood 3 times leading up to the operation. I'm concerned I have a liver problem, but no medic has suggested this issue to me. Would general bloodwork before surgery express any liver issue or would that not come up?

Just had a read at a web-site about pre-op blood work and it states the following:-

"The blood tests performed before surgery include the complete blood count (CBC) and comprehensive metabolic panel. The complete blood count determines the number and type of certain cells in the blood, according to WebMD. According to WebMD, these cells include white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. The CBC blood test also measures the amount of hemoglobin in the blood. Hemoglobin carries oxygen, so measuring the amount of hemoglobin present helps determine if the blood is able to carry enough oxygen throughout the body.

According to the University of Rochester Medical Center, the comprehensive metabolic panel helps determine how well the liver and kidneys are working. This test also measures the amount of glucose in the blood; determines if a patient's blood has the right acid/base balance; and measures the amount of electrolytes in the blood. These electrolytes include potassium, sodium and calcium, as stated by the University of Rochester Medical Center website."

I would echo what I replied the another poster earlier today, if you feel you have a liver issue ask your doctor straight out, discuss your concerns and if the pre-op blood tests didn't cover your liver, ask for tests to check it out. It is the only way you will know for certain.

Yes you can have blood tests that show if you have liver problems. Ask your dr for a breakdown and explanation and they should be pleased to explain. If not the information and normal ranges are on the net.
